Actually, most Fish Oil products on the market should have little or no Mercury/PCBs/etc. The common industry standard is called “Molecular Distillation”, and it’s currently the only safe way to remove all trace contaminants of any heavy metals. If a company doesn’t use Molecular Distillation, they likely have a rather low quality. The best way to guarantee safety is to call a company selling a Fish Oil you want to get and ask if they use Molecular Distillation… they should be able to say yes or no rather quickly.

That being said, any answer here of a brand will just be personal preference and opinion. If you would like my opinion, I can give it to you.

[edit]: Nordic Naturals is one of the bigger companies with good quality. As I had mentioned, they use Molecular Distillation. icon wink Q&A: Anyone know what the best Omega 3 fish Oil supplement is.?

One of the best on the market is Nordic Naturals. That’s what I use. I take it straight (not in pill form) and there is no fishy aftertaste. It’s about as pure as you can get. Another good one is Carlsons.

  2. Laura J says:

Nordic Naturals, they not only take out the mercury but they also take out the aluminum and all other metals, so you get what you pay for. It is the purest fish oil on the market to date.

I know you asked about fish oil but I would recommend you look into flaxseed oil

  4. Susan Yarrawonga says:

The odourless fish oil capsule brands are more expensive and are guaranteed to have no more than a negligible amount or an insignificant amount of mercury in them.

  5. howlegh says:

Good brands have a distilling process to remove metals like mercury. Research brands at an unbiased place like NutritionalTree.com that does not sell anything.
