4 Foods to Eat to Put a Stop to Back Stiffness in Its Tracks
Do you suffer from back pain or sciatica? I used to. It certainly is painful and what’s far worse is that it can rob you of your life. Suddenly even the most basic stuff like walking, going to work, or maybe playing with your children can become an enormous struggle against pain.
Most cases of back trouble stem from either muscle problems or inflammation. Muscle weakness are a subject I will have to discuss later on but swelling is no less important. Swelling occurs as a natural reaction from your body to protect itself from injury or noxious substances.
But the everyday American diet nowadays also contains plenty of unhealthy fats and other ingredients that cause inflammation. But do you know that there are foods you can eat that lower irritation and can actually help relieve your back trouble? Here are 4 of them:
Omega 3 Fats – These help with back stiffness by decreasing inflammation. They also reduce plaque in your arteries. This helps to increase blood flow and circulation, which allow all the parts of your body (including your spine, vertebrae, discs, and nerves) to get sufficient oxygen to function properly.
You’ll find Omega 3 fats in seafood, especially salmon, herring, shellfish, and trout. If you aren’t crazy about seafood, don’t worry. You may also find Omega 3 fats in foods like tofu, walnuts, beans and squash.
Vitamin D – This vitamin can help reduce irritation improve muscle and nerve function, which makes your back stronger, and it also makes other painkillers better.
Luckily, Vitamin D is easy to get, but unfortunately the majority in our society are extremely insufficient in it. Your body naturally produces Vitamin D when you’re out in the sun. But way too many folks work in dark office buildings all day long and do not get the natural daylight they require. If you can, attempt to take a 20 minute walk in the sunshine every day. If this isn’t possible for you, you can always take Vitamin D supplements.
Anti-oxidants – You probably have heard that anti-oxidating agents are great at stopping cancer by getting rid of “free radicals” in the body. But these same free radicals can also do harm to nerves and raise sensitivity to pain. Anti oxidising agents manage free radicals in your body and will help to reduce back stiffness (as well as their plenty of other health benefits).
The most typical sources of antioxidants are from beans, berries, and other fruits.
Olive Oil – This one is a bit strange. But did you know that olive oil contains COX inhibitors–the same element found in ibuprofen. COX enzymes cause inflammation in the body and the COX inhibitors in olive oil stop this compound from working.
Not only is olive oil 3 times better than painkiller tablets like ibuprofen, but it hasn’t got the same negative side-effects that many of the deadly NSAID painkillers do, eg internal bleeding.
I am hoping this information has given you one or two ideas on the right way to clean up your diet to help decrease swelling and heal your back problems.
