Question by HollyGolightly: Why are vegans against eating “healthy” dairy and meats?
I totally get that some vegans or vegetarians don’t consume dairy and/or meat for moral reasons, but can their concerns about the healthiness of it be answered with HOW the meat/dairy is handled?
For example, if a cow was completely free-range, grass fed, etc., what would be the health concerns in that?

Because they’re vegan, duh!!
Give your answer to this question below!

They don’t do it for health reasons. Its usually to get attention
Its not about health, they dont want to cause any harm to animals
They don’t like the idea of interrupting the natural pattern of nature for their own needs. Or at least, that is what my vegan friend told me.
Red meat usually has a lot of fat in it. Sure tastes good though…
Because, even if it is HEALTHY, they are against eating anything that involves meat.
Heck, vegans won’t even wear or touch fur made products from animals, or any other mammal.
Hope i helped you some. =)
becase when you can eat vegie and be healthy why you harm animals?
there is no such thing as healthy meat or dairy. they are generally full of fat and cholesterol, and of course they arent a natural component of a humans diet. a simple look at our bodys makeup and the fact that cow milk is designed for cows consumption should prove my statements true. meat tends to be more expensive than plant-based foods as well, and isn’t too great for the environment.
The health of the animals that are being murdered and enslaved for your lifestyle. Animals are not our property no matter how healthy you might think they are nothing is healthy about slavery. I think abusing you is healthy so does that mean I get too do it? NO!
Veganism is not about your personal health it is about the health of those around you those who don’t get the choice to be free but are forced into it by greedy humyns. You can slap on any labels you want but the animals are still dying and death is not good for your or anybody else’s health. It is about not doing things that are clearly wrong no matter how you look at it.
It is ethically, morally and in ever other sense wrong to treat anybody as a slave. It is also wrong to force your personal beliefs on another living being through violence and slavery. Being an omnivore or wearing leather or wool or going to an animal circus or whatever is not ok in any sense no matter how you do it. I cannot take what I want from somebody else and neither can you.
I did not become a vegetarian for my health, I did it for the health of the chickens. -Isaac Bashevis Singer
I don’t understand why vegans wont eat eggs or drink milk.
First of all, milk from cows is not hurting the cow at all!!!!!
And second of all, I dont think they understand that in todays world, farmers have special chickens that lay eggs without chicks in them. Thats what they sell at the grocery store.
I’m going to explain my personal feelings about this, and I hope this will make sense. Sorry if it doesn’t.
I am (becoming) vegan because I have seen how cruelly animals are treated in factory farms and slaughterhouses. This is the original thing which led me to vegetarianism. I used to think that if I still thought beef for example was taken from cows which lived a happy, smiley life in big paddocks with cute farmers in straw hats, I would still eat meat. I think if that were the case in reality, I would still eat meat purely because it’s the cruelty which led me to the real reasons for which I now choose to not consume animal products.
Now, the REAL reasons I don’t consume animal products now… I am a Darwinist. It’s that simple. I don’t think humans have the right to control animals. There is a huge difference between a Lion catching a Gazelle, and a Human having god-like control over the lives of other animals. Other species, in my opinion, should be allowed to live out their evolutionary journey in peace, without the interference of animals which just happened to be lucky enough to evolve more efficiently.
So in answer to your question, if cows WERE kept in those pleasant conditions, and slaughtered humanely, I probably would never have thought twice about eating meat. But now that I have thought about it, even if I knew of a brand which sold humanely treated animal meat, I wouldn’t eat it because of the reason I explained in the above paragraph.
This is just my personal opinion, I can’t speak for other vegans.
“First of all, milk from cows is not hurting the cow at all!!!!!” – If I were to artificially inseminate your uterus, and then steal your baby from you a few days after birth, and repeat this process every year for your entire life, would you consider this “not hurting” you at all? This is what happens to dairy cows. Cows, just like humans, cats, dogs, monkeys, and every other mammal that I am aware of, do not produce milk without giving birth. Three things happen to the children of dairy cows – they are sold to veal farmers, killed at birth for cultured meat or rendering, or kept to live out the same miserable existence as their mother. As for the cows themselves, they are fed and injected with growth hormones and kept in tiny stalls, forced to give birth over and over again to keep up milk production. As for your egg comment, they’re not “special” chickens, all female chickens lay eggs regularly because it’s their version of the menstrual cycle (ie your period). It’s the conditions they’re kept in which people care about. They’re debeaked with hot blades, also fed hormones, and kept in crammed conditions. Some chickens even start eating each other, out of frustration and confusion, because they are driven insane by their living conditions. Do your research before you make yourself sound like such an idiot.
cholesterol…
I assume you’re ignoring all veg*ns who don’t eat meat, dairy and eggs for moral, environmental, religious or taste reasons?
Grass fed free range beef is healthier then hormone and antibiotic raised cows. That does not, however, mean that they are healthy. Humans do not need saturated fat or cholesterol (more then we make on our own) More then a few ounces of red meat a week, no matter what kind of red meat, is not healthy.
Did you know that people who use a lot of dairy are more, not less, likely to develop osteoperosis?
The short answer is no, how the dairy and meat are handled is not a solution.
Vegans are lunatics.
There is nothing healthy about meat and dairy. Good luck finding meat from truly free range cattle, there is none. And even so it is still unhealthy (e. coli, cholesterol)
